Deborah Charalambakis

Deborah Charalambakis is a safeguarding and victim advocacy leader with more than a decade of experience advancing the safety, rights, and well-being of vulnerable populations. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Kentucky, which laid the foundation for a career dedicated to protection. Her professional work began in Africa, where she supported vulnerable children and victims of crime, experiences that shaped her lifelong commitment to child protection, humanitarian response, and justice for those affected by exploitation and abuse. She has since worked with international organizations to promote institutional accountability, strengthen justice systems, and support survivor-centered models of service delivery. Across education and nonprofit settings, she has led safeguarding initiatives, improved trauma-informed practices, and delivered professional trainings on trauma-informed care and human trafficking identification. She now brings this strategic, globally informed perspective to the Fayette Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and its work supporting victims throughout the criminal justice process.
